Cosmetic dentistry in Tulsa
Cosmetic work should still look like your teeth. The aim is a smile that fits your face, not a set of identical white rectangles.
Cosmetic dentistry improves how your smile looks, and the treatments range from a single appointment of bonding to a full set of veneers. What is right for you depends on what bothers you when you look in the mirror, so that is where the consultation starts.
Teeth whitening
Coffee, tea, and red wine dull enamel over years. Professional whitening lifts that staining well beyond what a drugstore kit reaches, because the gel is stronger and the trays are made from moulds of your own teeth so the gel stays on the enamel instead of on your gums.
You wear the trays for a few hours a day, and most people see a clear change within four to six weeks. Whitening does not change the color of crowns, veneers, or fillings, which is why we whiten first and match new restorations to the final shade.
Porcelain veneers
Veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of the teeth. They correct shape, spacing, chips, and staining that will not respond to whitening, and they do it without grinding down the natural tooth the way a crown does.
Veneers hold their color and hold up well over time. They work best when the teeth underneath are healthy, so decay and gum problems get treated first.
Dental bonding
Bonding uses the same tooth colored resin as a filling to repair a chip, close a small gap, or reshape a tooth. It is usually done in one visit and is the lowest cost cosmetic option. Resin comes in many shades so it is matched to the teeth beside it. Bonding does not last as long as porcelain, and Dr. Hanna will tell you when it is the sensible choice and when it is worth going to a veneer.
Enamel contouring
Enamel contouring smooths small imperfections. If a tooth has a rough spot, a small fracture, or a corner that is squarer or longer than the tooth beside it, a fine bur reshapes the enamel. It is a subtle change, usually done in a single short appointment, and it often makes more difference to an uneven smile than people expect.
Cosmetic work and your bite
A smile that looks right but does not close right will not last. Before cosmetic treatment Dr. Hanna checks how your teeth meet and whether you grind, because a patient who clenches at night will chip new porcelain unless the grinding is addressed first. That is often a night guard, and sometimes it is TMJ treatment.
Common questions
The questions patients ask us most about this treatment, answered plainly.
How long does teeth whitening last
Most people hold their result for a year or more, depending on how much coffee, tea, tobacco, and red wine they take in. Trays are yours to keep, so touching up for a few nights is straightforward and does not require a new appointment.
Will veneers look fake
Not when they are planned around your face. Shade, length, and shape are chosen with you before anything is bonded, and the goal is teeth that suit you rather than a uniform bright white.
Should I whiten before getting veneers or crowns
Yes. Porcelain does not lighten, so whitening the natural teeth first sets the target shade and the new work is matched to it. Doing it the other way around leaves a mismatch.
