Few towns of its size have a bigger claim on Oklahoma history. The Glenn Pool field opened on 22 November 1905 when Robert Galbreath and Frank Chesley brought in the Ida E. Glenn No. 1 on a farm about twelve miles south of Tulsa. Production soon passed 120,000 barrels a day, exceeding both the Red Fork gusher and Spindletop in Texas, and it is the discovery that established Tulsa as the Oil Capital of the World. The settlement that grew up around it was called Glenn, and was renamed Glenpool in January 1908.
Modern Glenpool is largely a commuter town, and it has grown quickly. Much of the housing is relatively recent and the population skews toward young families, which shows in what people come to us for.
