Serving Sperry

Sperry sits on State Highway 11 about ten miles north of downtown Tulsa and five miles south of Skiatook, near the Tulsa and Osage county line. For most of the town the drive to our Midtown office is around twenty five minutes straight down 11.

The town owes its existence to oil and the railway. The opening of the Bird Creek field and the completion of the northern section of the Midland Valley Railroad brought a flag station here in 1905, and Sperry formally became a town in 1920 with 487 residents. Before that the area was part of the Cherokee Nation, with a post office designated in 1902 serving a scattered farming community that grew cotton and raised cattle.

Bird Creek also carries older history. In December 1861 Union loyalists under the Creek chief Opothleyahola were engaged by Confederate forces in the Horseshoe Bend area of the creek, a couple of miles south east of the present town.

Sperry Public Schools runs kindergarten through twelfth grade with the elementary, middle, and high schools all on one campus.

What we see most from Sperry

With the whole district on a single campus, families here tend to run one school schedule rather than three, which makes back to back family appointments straightforward. We book them that way deliberately so a trip in covers everyone.

None of that means we only do one thing for one town. It is simply the pattern, and it is worth saying out loud because it tells you what your neighbours found useful about driving here.

Everything in one office

Diamond Dental is family owned and locally run, not part of a chain. Cleanings and deep cleanings, crowns, fillings, veneers, clear aligners, TMJ treatment, injectables, implants, extractions, and wisdom teeth all happen in this office. For a Sperry family that is the difference between solving a problem on the trip you already made and starting a second one on the other side of Tulsa.

Dr. Mariam Hanna earned her DDS at Howard University College of Dentistry and completed a one year general practice residency in sedation and oral surgery at LSU Health Sciences Center. That training is the reason surgical and sedation cases stay here rather than being referred on, including patients on several medications or with conditions that need watching during a procedure.

She is also a member of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, which is the training behind the TMJ treatment and injectables offered here.

If the dentist is not somewhere you enjoy going

Two things keep people away, and they are cost and a bad experience somewhere else. We quote treatment before starting it, and nobody here will comment on how long it has been since your last visit.

Nitrous gas is available the same day for most appointments and oral sedation can be arranged in advance. There is also a therapy dog, blankets, and iPads, and you can ask for any of it at check in without giving a reason. The comfort menu page sets out the lot.

New patients from Sperry

The new patient visit is $125 for an adult and $90 for a child, covering the exam, digital X-rays, and a cleaning. Gum measurements are taken at that appointment, because that is what tells us whether a standard cleaning is right for you or whether gum disease needs treating first.

We accept most PPO plans, including Cigna, Aetna, Guardian, MetLife, and Delta, and our team handles the back and forth with the insurance company. If you do not have dental insurance, ask about Smile Club, our in house monthly membership. The current offers page lists what is included.

Families from Sperry regularly book several appointments back to back so one drive covers everybody. Ask for that when you call and we will arrange it.

Bring your insurance card, a list of any medications you take including over the counter ones, and the name of your previous dentist if you have records worth transferring. If you are in pain or something has broken, say so when you book rather than waiting until you arrive, because that changes how much time we set aside for you.
